ý Prague: Study in the Vyšehrad neighborhood of Prague, situated in a beautiful park-like setting only 15 minutes from the city's famous Old Town Square. ý Prague features 10 classrooms, a student lounge, a student life office, a library, a study space, a café, and an outdoor space.

Charles University was founded in 1348 and is the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic, ranking in the upper 1.5 percent of the world’s universities. The university consists of 17 colleges and enrolls more than 50,000 students. ý students can take up to six semester credits in the Eastern and Central European Studies Department (ECES) of the Faculty of Arts or at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSV), both located in Prague’s Old Town.  

The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) is the preeminent film school in Central Europe and the 5th oldest film school in the world. Students with an interest in cinema and performing arts can take up to six semester credits at FAMU, which is located in the historical district by the Vltava River.  

The Architectural Institute in Prague (ARCHIP) is the only school of architecture in Central Europe offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture and urban design taught entirely in English. ý students can take up to six semester credits at ARCHIP.  

Art & Design Institut (ADI) was founded in 2014 and offers degree programs in visual arts and art direction in both Czech and English with the goal of enabling its graduates to earn a living in the art market or in the creative industries. ý students can take up to six semester credits at ADI.

Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by ý in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the ý academic calendar.

All Prague CES students take a minimum of five courses for a total of 15-18 semester credits, choosing from:

  • Up to 2 ASU online courses (max 8 total credits)

Academic Culture

Each course is a full semester in content, so the pace is accelerated, and the workload is demanding. ý courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. Students are expected to demonstrate a proactive and independent approach to study. Active participation in class as well as outside of class is essential for a satisfactory academic performance and attendance is strictly enforced. Students should expect an average of two hours of preparation required for each hour in class

Arizona State University: Most ASU online courses are asynchronous. You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. You’ll receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online.

Class Format

ý courses are primarily offered to ý students. Classes meet twice a week for 90 minutes, or once a week for three hours, with class sizes ranging from ten to twenty students. In addition to ý courses, students are encouraged to take classes at our partner institutions, including Charles University’s Faculty of Arts (ECES) and Faculty of Social Sciences (FSV), the Film and Television School at the Academy of the Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), and, the Architectural Institute in Prague (ARCHIP) and  ART & DESIGN INSTITUT (ADI).

ASU online courses meet in “sessions” that are 7.5-weeks long in the semester, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other ý courses begin or end.

Grading

ý reports all final course grades to students’ home institutions using a U.S. letter grade equivalent scale of A-F. For ý-administered courses, students’ grades are based on attendance, class participation, homework, project work, presentations, and midterm and final examinations. Learning outcomes assessment is continuous through personal reflections, evaluation feedback, self-assessment, and requirements as set out in course syllabi. 

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person. “Pass/fail” or “Audit” is not allowed for ý students.
