¾«¶«´«Ã½ Palma: Study on the second floor of ELE USAL language academy, ¾«¶«´«Ã½â€™s partner institution, located near shops, restaurants, cafeterias, supermarkets, and two public libraries. ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Palma features classrooms, a student lounge, a student life office, computer labs, and a modest study space.

Academic Culture

The program is made up of three weeks of classes with an intensive orientation beforehand. ¾«¶«´«Ã½ courses are taught at ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Palma and are designed to follow U.S. academic culture. Class attendance is strictly enforced both for classes and required co-curricular excursions. 

Class Format

Courses are for ¾«¶«´«Ã½ students only. Courses are taught Monday through Friday. Instruction is supported and augmented online by our learning management system, Canvas. The course is complemented with immersive co-curricular activities, company visits, and hands-on workshops designed to enhance classroom learning. 

Grading

Assessment is based on the individual’s overall performance in the course, including essays, coursework, and final examinations or papers. Students must check with their professors to find out exam and project presentation dates. Under no circumstances will ¾«¶«´«Ã½ alter deadlines or exam dates for study abroad students who have made conflicting travel plans. The U.S. grading scale of A-F is used.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via ¾«¶«´«Ã½'s School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.

†The listed estimated cost is for students in homestays. Families provide 2 meals (breakfast and dinner) and students purchase lunch (there isn’t usually access to a kitchen, but students can store food in the house). For students in apartments, you should budget approx. $265 per month for groceries if you plan on making your own meals, and more if you plan on eating out regularly.

†â¶Ä Round-trip flight based on U.S. East Coast departure ranges from $800-1250 dependent on carrier

†â¶Ä â€ 10 trips bus pass costs 15€. Palma is a walkable city.
