HOUSING

Homestay: Experience real, day-to-day life in Buenos Aires by living with a typical Argentine host, such as families with young children, single professionals, young couples with no children, and older couples whose children visit but do not live at home. The typical commute between homestays and ��ý Buenos Aires can range from a 20-minute walk to a 30 to 40-minute public transportation ride. Homestays include a weekly laundry service.

MEALS

Homestays include two meals per day: breakfast and either lunch or dinner. Host families and students arrange their own meal schedules. Students are responsible for the remaining meal, either preparing it at home or eating in one of the many restaurants and cafés throughout the city.

Academic Culture

The program is made up of three weeks of classes with an intensive orientation beforehand. Each course is a full semester in content, so the pace is accelerated, and the workload is demanding. ��ý courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. The class environment typically features a combination of traditional lecture and discussion with co-curricular excursions and activities. Heavy emphasis is placed on student participation and class attendance is strictly enforced both for classes and required co-curricular excursions.

Class Format

Courses taught at ��ý Buenos Aires are for ��ý students only. Courses are taught Monday through Friday. Instruction is supported and augmented online by our learning management system, Canvas.

Grading

Assessment is based on the individual’s overall performance in the course including attendance, class participation, homework, project work, presentations, and midterm and final examinations. Students must check with their professors to find out exam and project presentation dates. Under no circumstances will ��ý alter deadlines or exam dates for study abroad students who have made conflicting travel plans. The U.S. grading scale of A-F is used.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via ��ý's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500. January 2020 programs in Latin America are not eligible for ��ý Scholarships and Grants.
